A Day Away From the World

In today's fast paced world where everything from time to gadgets to money disappear quickly, it is perhaps difficult to even sit down and take a deep breath.

Everyone around the globe have started running so fast in their lives, that they don't notice their physical selves are slowly dying in the process and that if they don't take care, they would never reach the end of the race safely.

They must come to understand that there is nothing in the world that can run non-stop for ever and ever. Even lifeless objects like cars and mobile phones need to be switched off after a while, so that they can rejuvenate their stored energy. If non-living things too have to take rest, then shouldn't it be the same for living beings as well? Shouldn't human beings with their continuous race from birth to death, also take rest? But for that first they first should stop, as one cannot close his or her eyes while running.

Educated people would know that for each action that we take, calories are burnt from their bodies. Calories are burnt and thus they spend energy not only when they physically use their bodies, but also for using their eyes, hearing things, eating food, imagining, dreaming and even breathing. Their bodies are literally used for 24 hours a day whether they like it or not. But they can and they have to change the way they use those organs over which they do have control; for example, their eyes.

Around 90% of the total world's population today wear spectacles, any eye-care accessory or have weak eyesight. Even though other factors like the environment, money and physical injuries may contribute to this figure, the main reason lies in the over straining of the precious jewels called 'eyes' that one has from birth.

But it is not possible to survive in today's world without continuously using these organs for some or the other purposes. Then what can one do? Stop? Everyone will argue that they cannot as the world will march much ahead, leaving them behind unattended. The solution to this is not to stop but just to pause for a while. The solution lies avoiding and ignoring all of one's tensions and worries and tiring work that life has in store, for a temporary amount of time. The answer to how to care for themselves lies in taking a holiday!

One should leave everything from the mobile phone or laptop that they own and go away with his or her family to a distant place from their homes, without informing anyone of their plans. Just for that little while, one should learn to love himself or herself and indulge in pleasing the body with whatever way is possible. Order the best cuisine while you eat, wear free casual clothes defying all norms of society and live those days the way you want to and not the way that you have to.

Open up your mind, explore dream and fantasize. In the small vacation or holiday that you take you should live in your world where only you and your loved ones exist. A holiday need not necessarily be taken by travelling to other places. Even people who can't afford much, can have a holiday in their own homes. All they have to do is free their minds from the webs that the world had trapped them with and live at least a day away from the world. On a holiday, they should try to celebrate life, celebrate their own existence. Even God needed a day to rest as mentioned in the Bible,

“In six days the Lord made heaven and earth and on the seventh day, He rested and refreshed himself.”  Exodus 31:17
