The Power of a Word
The two main advantages that man has over other species is one, to use his tongue to communicate with his brethren and two use his thumb to pen down those thoughts which he couldn't tell out immediately, and store them for a later while. But these are the same advantages that are responsible for man's destruction as well, these days. This is because just like people tend to ignore any living or non living object as having not much relevance, people ignore the power of a word too.
A word be it in oral or written form has the power which perhaps even a dozen nuclear bombs wouldn't have. This is because a bomb can only destruct whereas a word can change destiny in any direction and make the same energy used for destruction to be used for further growth.
Despite its magnanimous effect, people remain oblivious to the power of a word and its influence on each and every sphere of their life. Without words people will not be able to differentiate one object from other. And more so, a word gives them a identity in the form of a name.
If it weren't for words, people will not to communicate with each other and the world wouldn't have become a global village that it is today. Each object or being has a name and a word is needed both to identify them and to describe them.
Description comes in many forms, some of which people say to be artistic. But that very expression called 'art' itself is a word. Of course words are only used in written literature like poetry, novels, essays, letters and the like. But if one seems more unbiasedly one would see that even the colors used in painting or the tools used in sculpting or the software used in computer designing all have 'names'. And, a name is too a word.
A word describes colors, a word describes shapes; a word describes beauty, a word describes feelings; a world talks about the past; a word sees the future; a word dreams, hopes and expresses faith; a word also expresses love and hatred, happiness and sorrow, anger and coolness, pride and humility. A word also denotes God and the Devil.

Hence a word reflects which way a human mind thinks. And just like everything else that a human being uses, it too can reflect a a boon or a curse depending on the way it is handled. Entire civilizations have been brought up or destroyed by the power of words. Religious books of every religion depend on the power of words and no matter how much one prophesizes spirituality, one does not paint and talk to God.
The entire concept of talking itself uses words! In this way words can be defined as an expression of the thoughts desires, wishes and emotions of man in a medium which others would understand. These words if used well can make many reach such heights that even in today's world of miracles in science and technology, no one could have ever imagined. But these same words are the ones responsible for the ever increasing crime rate and terrorism in today's world too. But these same words were also used by great evergreen people like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln to name a few.
A word is a very powerful tool and like any other tool, one must know about it completely to use it well. And like any other tool, one should ignore its effects and defects, simply depending on its size. It could be put into better use too.
The way it is used would perhaps write down the entire world's destiny as a word is used to name God as well as speak about the Devil!
